AFRICA “El abrazo entre los pueblos” Es una obra de gran riqueza cromática, un viaje a través de las diferentes culturas afro-americanas. Una fusión casi telúrica de ambos continentes, donde se aprecia toda la fuerza y la riqueza de sus pueblos y culturas, con una feliz mezcla de modernidad dada por el compositor. Las tradiciones musicales africanas se funden en un abrazo con la música del otro lado del Atlántico.
Africa se estrenó, para coro y grupo de percusión, en 1996 en el Teatro Victoria Eugenia.
Interpretes: Coral “Mártires de Uganda” de Senegal y el Grupo de Percusión del Conservatorio Superior de Donostia-San Sebastián.
Crítica del estreno: "De meritoria, bien construida impactante y sorprendente, ha de calificarse esta verdadera cantata de nuestro siglo" (M.C Diario Vasco 01-08-96)
Posteriormente, Tomás Aragüés realizo los arreglos y orquestación para coro y orquesta. En 2005, la Orquesta de Euskadi y el Orfeón Donostiarra interpretaron una selección de temas en el Auditorio del Kursaal y en 2017 la Orquesta y Coro de las Palmas de Gran Canaria interpretaron la obra completa en el Auditorio Alfredo Kraus.
